Oporto British School takes great pride in its commitment to ensuring Academic excellence.  The School is a two form entry and class sizes are at a maximum of twenty students.  Both the staff and students approach the day to day studying with a positive attitude and approach to learning. The School regularly obtains excellent results at both IGCSE and IB Diploma. This collaborative effort is a journey that begins in the Primary Section, where the teachers give the students essential learning tools and skills that create and foster a love of learning that spans across the entire age range. 

As a school, it is imperative not to stand still and with the imminent increase in facilities and space, OBS will continue to develop its Academic strategy in order to provide the very best opportunities to its student body. This is highlighted by the introduction of new subjects at IGCSE, with Drama, Music and ICT now embedded in the subject choices. 

OBS is also mindful of the need to prepare its students for tertiary education for both overseas and in Portugal. In the last three years we have sent students to Johns Hopkins, Baltimore USA, Switzerland and many universities in the UK. The IB Diploma also has recognised equivalence to entry into Portuguese Univeristies and students have entered some prestigious Universities here in Porto.
