IB Programme

The OBS offers the Diploma Programme from the International Baccalaureate Organisation for its 16 to 18 year old students. All subjects are taught in English alongside the modern language subjects of Portuguese and French.

The IB Diploma Programme is a rigorous pre-university course of studies, leading to examinations, which meet the needs of highly motivated secondary school students. Our IB Diploma holders have access to selective universities around the world.

The IB results of the school are impressively high and consistently above the IB world average. Most of our students leave with a bi-lingual diploma. The students benefit from the unique characteristics of the Diploma programme such as taking the Theory of Knowledge course, writing an Extended Essay and participating in the Creativity; Action and Service (CAS) programme which prepares more well-rounded individuals for the modern international world.

The IB students enjoy additional privileges such as their own common room and the right to wear their own smart, casual dress. The school operates a prefect system with a Head Prefect representing the student body.
