Supporting OBS

In May 2009, OBS launched a fund raising campaign, Be a Brick: building for the future. In conjunction with the building of the new Senior Block, the school hosted a launch party where the architect, Mr Matthew Salt, gave details of the new building.

Attendees, friends and families were then given an opportunity to purchase a brick, which would be placed along the wall at the entrance of the new block, with the names of families who have contributed to the fund raising.

 To date, we have raised 37.000,00€, which will fund the purchase of a new IT suite for the students.

We have recently embarked on a phase of design development, which has added on the original initiative, and has woven an historical timeline into the wall, and transformed the ‘bricks’ into ‘shards’. Names will be placed alongside significant historical dates, during the period 1894, when the school was founded, through to 2012, when the Senior Block is formally opened.

So, as the Senior block nears completion, we are re-launching the initiative to encourage more pledges from friends, family, alumni and companies to add their names to what will become an iconic edifice.
