School Life
There is a great sense of pride amongst the students at Oporto British School. A typical life in the day will see them arrive at 08.45. All students are registered with their class teacher in the Primary Section or tutor in the Senior Section. Lessons are forty minutes long with a break at 10.55. The Lunch hour is staggered to allow Primary students to go to the canteen first and their day finishes at 3.30 with the exception of Forms 4 and 5, who finish at the same time as the Senior Section at 4.10.
As well as the day to day curriculum, the school runs an extensive extra-curricular programme that ranges from Rugby in the Primary School to Model United Nations (MUN) for the senior students. There are a number of sporting clubs and the school regularly competes with other schools in the local area, as well as the Lisbon Festival for all the International Schools in Portugal.
OBS has both a winter and summer uniform. Winter uniform includes a shirt and tie and is worn from October to Easter. The summer uniform is worn from Easter to the end of the academic year and then for the first half term to October. All students are meant to be well dressed and smart in their uniform. IB students have a dress code of smart casual. For official events they are to wear suits and ties.
