      Anastasia Denisova

      Although originally from Moscow, Anastasia considers herself to be truly international. She acquired her first joined degree in Biology and Educational Studies (BSc, Hons) as well as a teaching qualification (PGCE) in Oxford, UK. Out of the 7 years of teaching experience that followed, Anastasia spent a considerable amount of time teaching in the UK and leading the science department in an international school in Moscow. Anastasia also has a long lasting bond with Porto.  Being a part of the OBS Alumni she witnessed the school growing and developing for nearly 15 years and was very excited to return and become a part of the teaching staff in 2013. Anastasia has enjoyed her first year teaching at OBS as well as working with an exceptional group of teachers and is looking forward to the next academic year in this stimulating and dynamic environment.

      Filipe Oliveira, an OBS. ex-pupil, qualified with Honours from the Institute of Contemporary Music Performance in London, he then completed his teacher training at the OBS, with the accreditation from Buckingham University. He plays the Guitar, Bass, Drums and Piano and has toured and recorded with various artists in the UK.

      Cristina Bridges

      Computing Teacher,  Head of ICT

      Cristina Bridges has been teaching ICT at the Oporto British School since 2003. Prior to that she taught in London. While there she also worked as a freelance journalist and interviewed famous football players such as Ronaldinho and Cristiano Ronaldo. Cristina Bridges was born and lived in France where she took her Baccalauréat. She then studied in the Universidade de Coimbra and King’s College London. More recently she has specialized in IT in Education at the Universidade Católica do Porto.
      She is a Cambridge CIE Examiner and a Raspberry Pi Certified Educator.

      Roger Cox

      Mathematics Teacher, Head of Mathematics. 

      Roger Cox has worked at Oporto British School since 1993, the year the IB Diploma programme started at the school. He previously worked at schools in England, Germany and Indonesia. Mr Cox is the Head of Mathematics at the School, having previously served as Head of the Senior school. Mr Cox enjoys reading, football and tennis.

      Head of PE

      Matthew Homewood is the Head of Physical Education and joined the OBS in January 2014. He qualified with honours from the University of Brighton in Bachelor of Science (Sport & Exercise) and began teaching in post 16 education in 1995.

      Matthew Homewood is the Head of Physical Education and joined the OBS in January 2014. He qualified with honours from the University of Brighton in Bachelor of Science (Sport & Exercise) and began teaching in post 16 education in 1995. 

      He has over 20 years of experience as a teacher, examiner and manager and has been able to help his colleges achieve Outstanding grades from Ofsted, a Beacon award for Innovation in Employer Engagement as well as, personally, an Educational management award at the House of Lords.  Matthew has taught a wide range of science-based subjects from Biology & Physics to PE, Psychology and Business. Outside of school, Matthew enjoys time with his young family as well as playing golf, tennis, cricket and football (when possible) and is an avid skier.

      Mark Weeks

      English Teacher, Head of English. 

      Mark Weeks is Head of Secondary English and teacher of Theory of Knowledge.  He joined the school in September 2000 and has also performed the role of Head of Middle School.  Having completed a degree in English with American Studies at Winchester University he worked for some years in the Student Services section of Hampshire County Council Education Department before taking a PGCE at Southampton University and subsequently entering teaching.

      Prior to OBS he worked in two state secondary schools in Hampshire.  Outside school he writes and is an enthusiastic cook.  He also is a keen - if limited – sportsman and regularly plays football, hockey, cricket and tennis and is a long-standing member of Porto Hash House Harriers.

      French and Portuguese Teacher. 

      Leta Ferreira is a Secondary (teaching years 6 to 12) and International Baccalaureate Diploma Portuguese and French teacher, who joined OBS in September 1993.  She received her undergraduate degree in Línguas e Literaturas Modernas at Oporto University of Languages and her post-graduation in Ciências da Educação at the same university.

      French and Portuguese Teacher. 

      Leta Ferreira is a Secondary (teaching years 6 to 12) and International Baccalaureate Diploma Portuguese and French teacher, who joined OBS in September 1993.  She received her undergraduate degree in Línguas e Literaturas Modernas at Oporto University of Languages and her post-graduation in Ciências da Educação at the same university. Profª Leta has taught Portuguese and French as a Foreign Language and Portuguese First Language consistently and enjoys linking subjects and topics across the curriculum. She has been a coordinator as well as an advisor both in the CAS programme as well as in the Duke of Edinburgh award. At the moment, she is involved in the MUN (Model United Nations) club at school as an extracurricular activity. She values the school community at OBS and looks forward to being part of its continued success. Outside of school, she enjoys travelling with her family and she loves reading and creative writing.
