Pre-Prep Teacher.Pippa Vasconcelos is British and was born in England, where she went to school and university. After completing her degree she moved to Portugal with her husband, who is Portuguese. Pippa has been teaching in Primary education for 30 years and is currently teaching the Pre-Prep class. In 2003 she completed an Advanced Education course in Teaching in a Bilingual Context from the University of Bath. Pippa has two grown – up children, both of whom were pupils at OBS.

Lenita Lefèvre is a Teaching & Learning Assistant for Reception. She is qualified as a TLA, by The College of Teachers - London. Lenita put her career in the Banking Corporal World on hold, to raise her two children. They decided to move to Porto where both children attended Oporto British School from their Prep class until they completed their IB. During this time she worked at the OBS as a 'volunteer'. Lenita realized that she had a passion to teach and assist children and got offered the position of TLA in 2007.

Susana Costa was born in Vila Nova de Gaia in 1976. She is a Teaching & Learning Assistant, qualified as a TLA, by The College of Teachers - London.Susana worked at the school from 2003 to 2005 (after- care). She then worked at Porto Editora and came back in 2007 to work in After- care again when she realized the passion she had to teach and assist children. She got offered the positon of TLA in September 2007. She started working as Prep assistant, then moved to Learning Support and at the moment she is working as EYFS Teaching & Learning Assistant.

Reception Pandas Teacher.
Over the years, Susana Pires has worn many hats at Oporto British School. Having been teaching at OBS for over 20 years she has also been a student and a mother herself. She has enjoyed teaching various year groups, and has run numerous clubs such as origami, moving pictures and chocolate painting.

Susana is creative in her teaching and enjoys helping children learn through song, movement and design technology in EYFS. Susana enjoyed having an active role in the Millennium quilt making and more recently in the tree planting Arbour day ceremonies. Outside school Susana is a mother of three. She enjoys reading and listening to music. Susana also has a keen interest in architecture and art. -

Patricia Wall has been teaching for twenty-eight years, having undertaken the full time Montessori course (3-6 yrs) at St. Nicholas College, London. Mrs Wall then went on to teach, in the same city, at a Montessori Nursery school for two years, before moving back to Lisbon. Mrs Wall taught at St. Dominic’s School, São Domingos de Rana, for a couple of years and then moved to Porto where she started a family.

Patricia Wall

However, she missed teaching and opened her own Montessori Nursery School which she ran very successfully for ten years. Mrs Wall has been teaching at the Oporto British School for fourteen years and is passionate in contributing to the intellectual, social, emotional and physical development of little people.
In 2006-2008, Mrs. Wall completed the Open University Certificate in Early Years Education. Mrs Wall is enthusiastic, creative and caring and seeks to provide a balanced and secure environment for the children in her care.

Teaching and Learning Assistant.Zaida Moss was born in Oporto in 1955. She lived in Francelos and Miramar until she turned eleven years old and then she moved to Oporto where she finished her schooling. At 20 years old she went to Bristol, England as a nanny. She lived with a family for a year. She met her husband that year and decided to stay and take the state enrolled nurses course which Zaida finished successfully.

After a lot of voluntary work at OBS she was invited to be the Prep Teaching Assistant and to open Aftercare. After 7 years she became a full time teaching assistant. She liked it so much that after 19 years she is still at the school.”

After graduating with a BEd (Hons) specializing in the Arts, Mrs. Charles began her career at a prep school in England before seeking adventure teaching in Malawi. It was here that she met her husband and from there moved on to teach in Kuwait and Qatar. She is experienced in teaching Reception to Form 3 and second language learners. Mrs. Charles joined OBS in 2015 with her two children.

After 10 years, a challenge and a new approach to education took her to work in the Amman Baccalaureate School, in Jordan, with two very young children. She had the opportunity to build her interpersonal and communicational abilities in a variety of styles and levels which enabled her to use whilst she taught in class. Currently working at the O.B.S she finds the opportunity to work with children in the primary simply inspiring. Her hobbies are travelling, swimming and skiing.

She initially joined the school in 1998 as the class teacher for Form 1 Lions, however now has experience of teaching across the different age ranges from Form 1 through to Form 7 and oversees all academic areas in Primary.

Lesley Costello undertakes the dual role as Lower Primary Coordinator and a primary form teacher at OBS. She initially joined the school in 1998 as the class teacher for Form 1 Lions, however now has experience of teaching across the different age ranges from Form 1 through to Form 7 and oversees all academic areas in Primary.
She has formally also coordinated mathematics and humanities. She received a B.Ed (Hons) undergraduate degree from Leicester University.
Prior to becoming a teacher, Lesley worked as a nanny for families in England, Greece, Italy and Malta. She has one daughter in the Primary school already and her younger daughter will be joining the school in the future. Outside of school she enjoys travelling, playing hockey and running.

Angie is a creative teacher, who is known for being fair and whose students appreciate her guidance. She graduated from Keele University with a BEd. Honours in Home Economics, specializing in the middle school age range. Before coming to the OBS, Angie taught in primary and middle schools both in Norway and England, and has acquired a great deal of experience from the different positions she has held since she started teaching. Her experience of working in a school for children with physical and behavioral disabilities has given her further insight into how important it is for children to feel safe, happy and looked after in their school environment.
Lucy is passionate in helping children reach their full potential not just academically but socially as well. Lucy has been at Oporto British School since January 2014 and is currently working as a TLA. Lucy has a husband and 3 children. She loves living in Porto and enjoys the culture and food.

Matthew Homewood is the Head of Physical Education and joined the OBS in January 2014. He qualified with honours from the University of Brighton in Bachelor of Science (Sport & Exercise) and began teaching in post 16 education in 1995.
He has over 20 years of experience as a teacher, examiner and manager and has been able to help his colleges achieve Outstanding grades from Ofsted, a Beacon award for Innovation in Employer Engagement as well as, personally, an Educational management award at the House of Lords. Matthew has taught a wide range of science-based subjects from Biology & Physics to PE, Psychology and Business. Outside of school, Matthew enjoys time with his young family as well as playing golf, tennis, cricket and football (when possible) and is an avid skier.

Frequentou, na Escola Superior de Educação do Porto, o curso deProfessores do Ensino Básico, variante de Português/Francês. Possui, um diploma do Institut de Français de Porto, intitulado Diplôme Supérieur d’Etudes Françaises.
Começou a sua carreira como docente no Ensino Básico, 3ºciclo e Secundário, no ensino público, lecionando Francês. Há cerca de 20 anos, descobriu a sua paixão pelos mais novos e desde então dedicou-se exclusivamente ao 1ºciclo, com rigor, exigência e perfecionismo.
Adora caminhar, ler, as aulas de ioga, ir à praia, e uma boa conversa com amigos sobre sociologia, psicologia e história, sendo o seu tema favorito a educação. Detesta quando na conversa abordam temas de economia e finanças. Nos seus passeios, aprecia visitar museus (grandes e pequenos) e monumentos (antigos e recentes) na companhia da sua filha e marido.

Fátima was born in Arco de Baúlhe, but came to Porto when she was still a teenager. She has been working at OBS since September 2000 and before she worked at British Council. She loves working with children. In her free time she enjoys going to the gym, spending time with her friends and reading.
