Spring Sports Festival

OBS under 11 boys´ football and girls’ basketball team travelled to Kings College, Cascais alongside our under 15 boys’ football team to St Julian’s, Carcavelos, for the annual Spring Sports Festival at the end of April.

The now 18-strong field of English-speaking schools send teams to compete over a three-day period in Lisbon. Standards have been creeping up every year and OBS continues to give as good as it gets.

Under 11 girls’ basketball finished 8th and for their inaugural tournament and finishing in the top half was exceptional.

Under 11 boys’ football finished 12th beating CLIP on the way and losing in the final few minutes of nearly all of the other games

Under 15 boys’ football finished 12th with 2 games going to penalties and a commendable achievement for a team that has not played 11-a-side together all year.

Coaches Barbosa, Martins and Pinto were glowing in their praise for players attitudes and how they reflected OBS. We know what we need to focus on for next year. Work is underway already on developing the key principles we want our teams to follow. We look forward to announcing a new approach to clubs from September that, we hope, will make the difference.

Thank you to all the families that supported their child to pull on the red shirt of OBS, The PE department really appreciate it.
