Head´s Welcome
I’m delighted to welcome you to Oporto British School (OBS), a very special place right at the heart of its community since the nineteenth century.
OBS is a not-for-profit school to which families have been loyal for generations. Throughout its history, it has always been at the forefront of positive change in education.
It has always been a genuinely international school but with a distinctively British flavour; 2022 marked the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the International Baccalaureate Diploma as our core sixth form curriculum. Today, as the only IB World School in northern Portugal, we offer the very best of what British and international education should be in the 21st century; outward-looking, balanced, creative, rigorous and fun.
There is a really vibrant atmosphere about the school that is the organic expression of an environment that actively nurtures and inspires confidence, happiness and genuine endeavour amongst its students. There are virtues in not being the largest of schools; here, every child will have the opportunity to make their mark; to be counted; to find a vehicle for their curiosity, creativity and sense of responsibility to come to the fore.
