The Position
The Deputy Head (Academic) of Secondary will have responsibility for the overall coordination of the academic activity within Secondary, whilst also liaising with Primary Academic Coordinators, in order to ensure that whole school curricular planning and delivery targets are met. The Deputy Head (Academic) will support Key Stage Coordinators and Heads of Department in the effective fulfilment of their respective roles, and will support the Head of Secondary in ensuring that the quality of teaching and learning at Oporto British School is consistently of the highest standard possible. We are looking for an individual with the passion and drive to ensure that our curriculum is rigorous, innovative, enriching, and that it offers excellent preparation for life after school. A strong focus on the development of literacy, numeracy, and digital skills will be key aspects of the role.

The Position
The School Librarian will be expected to take a highly creative and active role in the management, development and promotion of the wide range of services provided by the school libraries. In Primary, they will promote a love of reading and take students for small library lessons, in addition to the day-to-day administration of the primary and secondary Library itself. They will work closely with Teachers, Teaching and Learning Assistants, Heads of Department and Academic Coordinators to ensure the library contributes effectively to the delivery of the curriculum and supports pupils to develop skills necessary to make effective use of resources.
The School Librarian will be required to keep abreast of new developments in the provision of a school library resource service, and developments in the use of ICT. They will also be required to manage the library budget/resources effectively and have a high level of organisation.
The Librarian will also have the responsibility of placing orders for the Library as well as for all academic departments.

The Science team is made up of 9 teachers and 2 full-time technicians. The Science department offers 5 popular subjects at IB Diploma level: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Environmental Systems and Societies, and Sports, Exercise and Health Science.

The Humanities department
The Humanities team is made up of six teachers. At Key Stage 3, all students study History and Geography. At Key Stage 4, IGCSEs in History, Geography and Business Studies are available. As part of the IB Diploma Programme, we offer Business Management, Economics, History, Geography and Psychology.

The Position
This position has two roles. The first part of the role will be working within the Primary School, working with our youngest students to support their eating, playing and sleeping. You may also be asked to work within the Primary Section at the Primary Leadership Team’s discretion.
The successful candidate will be a great team player, with a genuine commitment to putting students first. They will be flexible and adaptable with excellent communication skills. Preferably they will have experience supporting students with a variety of needs and in a range of different environments including students new to English.
The second part to this role is the position of After School Care Supervisor. The school operates an After-school Care service for pupils who are not able to be met by their parents or guardians when their school lessons finish at the end of the school day. The service operates daily from 3.30-6.30pm.
