Life in Porto
Oporto British School is located in the fashionable beachside suburb of Foz do Douro in the city of Porto. Porto, with its world heritage listed historical city centre, is set along the banks of a stunning gorge close to the mouth of the Douro River, 300km from Lisbon in the north of Portugal.
Porto is a centre for art and culture. The city has a lively restaurant and café scene, but Porto is also considered a safe city, great for families and young children.
Porto has a mild oceanic climate which makes the summers hot and the winters relatively mild. OBS’s location close to the Atlantic Ocean mean that the weather rarely gets very cold or very hot.
Porto has fantastic transport links with rail and motorway access to the rest of the country as well as further afield. The international airport is located a short drive from the city.
