The Triple Science students in Form 10 undertook a challenge in their Physics lesson: to build a relay circuit (a relay is an electromechanical device that uses an electromagnet to operate a switch from an open position to a closed position, completing a secondary circuit).
The students really rose to this challenge by interpreting schematics, problem-solving and adapting their circuits to make them more effective.
Here’s what some of the students had to say about the task:
“It allowed us to figure out our own design using a diagram as a starting point.”
“Fun and complicated: from a diagram, you actually have to figure out how to place all the equipment and how to set it up yourself.”
“Would recommend – a good experience to build a circuit itself.”
