Form 12 CAS Trip to Miranda do Douro

Last weekend a group of our IBDP students enjoyed the company of the Mirandese donkeys with the backdrop of some spectacular scenery. They worked alongside volunteers and vets to feed, walk and brush these wonderful but endangered creatures. Fence building, tree planting and bird watching also played a role and our students impressed the two organisations, Palombar and Aepga with their collaborative skills and ability to appreciate their place in the environment.

We were left with some big questions: why is it easier to gain support for the protection of donkeys, rather than vultures? What role can technology play in helping to preserve and protect our environment? Is it as important to protect the Mirandese Language and culture as it is to protect its wildlife?
