Duke of Edinburgh Award Gold Qualifying Journey

Oporto British School´s first International Duke of Edinburgh Award Gold team has completed their qualifying journey!

A group of 4 OBS students joined with 3 students from Escola Secundária Domingos Rebelo from São Miguel to form a team of 7. Together they hiked over steep hills, through streams and crossed dense bush with no clear path in Santa Maria Island, Acores. They camped, cooked meals and made use of their first aid skills. They completed a challenging sea kayak journey and took part in important research on the biodiversity of the island (possibly discovering a new species of snail). Miss Smith and Mr Bridges, who led and supported the participants, are incredibly proud of the Gold team´s achievements. Huge congratulations to our students on making history for OBS!
