The IB Visual Arts Exhibition is the culminating event that showcases the creative and conceptual work of our IB art students and celebrates their dedication. As a crucial component of the course assessment, the exhibition allows students to demonstrate their artistic development, technical proficiency, and personal vision through a curated collection of their works.
Throughout the course, students engage in an extensive exploration of media, techniques, and artistic processes, reflecting on themes of special significance to them. The exhibition gives them a chance to present a coherent body of work that illustrates their growth as artists. Each student curates their own space, selecting and arranging artworks in a manner that best conveys their artistic journey and thematic concerns.
The exhibition is not only a display of finished pieces but also gives an insight into the creative journey undertaken by students. They are required to submit a curatorial rationale, which provides context for their work, explaining their inspirations, materials, methods, and the conceptual framework behind their pieces. This written component is essential in demonstrating their critical engagement with art and their ability to articulate their ideas effectively.
This year, students explored a wide range of media; including painting, sculpture, photography, animation and installation; to develop their own artist concerns.
