The Position  

The Head of Secondary reports directly to the Head of School and is a member of the Senior Leadership Team. The Head of Secondary, with the help of the Secondary Extended Leadership Team, helps to develop and realise the school’s mission and vision, through the implementation and constant monitoring of its academic programmes. The Head of Secondary is also expected to monitor and manage staff performance. 

A key School Management position, the Head of Secondary has responsibility for bringing to life the school’s Vision and Values through the leadership and coordination of the Secondary section. 

Key responsibilities and duties: 

Leadership 

-To be a key contributing and collaborative member of the school Senior Leadership Team. 

-To inspire, motivate and influence staff and students, taking a leading role in maintaining the highest standards of teaching and learning and behaviour management.  

-To provide leadership, mentoring and coaching to support the professional development of staff and create a vibrant learning environment for all. 

-To manage change and improvement. 

-To contribute to the setting of the school’s vision, values and strategy. 

Management 

-To be responsible for all aspects of the day-to-day administration and organisation of the Secondary Section.  

-Provide educational and administrative leadership for the members of the Secondary Section teaching staff and supervise their work. 

-To collaborate with the Head of Primary and Professional Development Coordinator, and the Head of Co-Curriculum and Accreditation Coordinator in ensuring a cohesive, whole-school approach to the school’s educational offering.  

-To assist the Head of School in the school self-review, evaluation and quality assurance in the effective planning and management of school resources to secure improvements. 

-To play a significant role in setting aims and objectives for the Secondary Section while participating in the development of the Whole School Strategic Plan, together with the Head of School and other senior staff. 

-To lead the Secondary Section in raising the quality of teaching and learning by leading the Section’s appraisal and performance management programmes, delivering CPD, working with individuals and teams in a variety of professional development activities, and monitoring the Secondary section assessment, reporting and quality assurance systems.

The Position 

This is an important middle management post. It requires excellent organisational and administrative skills as well as a meticulous attention to detail. We are looking for a fully qualified person with drive, determination and passion to raise academic standards and support staff in their teaching and students with their learning. The Head of LD, with the support of the Headmaster/Heads of Section, takes responsibility for the day-to-day operation of provision made by the school for pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities/EAL/AG&T and provides professional guidance in these areas in order to secure high quality teaching and the effective use of resources and strategies to bring about improved standards of achievement for students.

O Oporto British School, encontra-se neste momento a contratar um/a Técnico/a de Manutenção de Edifícios para a realização de um estágio profissional apoiado pelo IEFP, no âmbito da medida de estágios ATIVAR.PT, para o campus escolar localizado na Foz do Douro, Porto.

O/a Técnico/a de Manutenção, terá como principais funções:

a) Assegurar as atividades de manutenção e reparação corrente dos edifícios e respetivos equipamentos de suporte, através do cumprimento dos planos de manutenção preventiva e corretiva;

b) Apoiar na instalação e manutenção das infraestruturas (rede elétrica, climatização, mobiliário, iluminação, entre outras) e acompanhar as entidades externas de prestação de serviços de manutenção;

c) Assegurar pequenas obras de restauro e pintura;

d) Verificar e assegurar o regular funcionamento das condições de segurança das instalações e dos equipamentos, reportando qualquer anomalia;

e) Verificar o estado dos equipamentos de 1ª intervenção a combate a incêndio e acompanhar as manutenções programadas (empresas externas)

f) Participar na manutenção e atualização do inventário dos equipamentos afetos à área dos Edifícios do Campus e Manutenção;

g) Apoiar tecnicamente as diferentes equipas nas montagens, ensaios, desmontagens e armazenamento de equipamentos inerentes à exibição de espetáculos e eventos internos;

h) Apoiar nas tarefas de logística, transporte de bens e equipamentos, preparação de eventos, etc.

Requisitos e Competências para a Função:

Conhecimento e experiência em manutenção de equipamentos (preferencial);

Conhecimentos em eletricidade, gestão de energia e redes de informática (preferencial);

Experiência em manutenção de infraestruturas de edifícios (rede elétrica, climatização, mobiliário, iluminação);

Conhecimentos no ambito das condições de segurança das instalações;

Disponibilidade para o exercício das funções em horário da parte da tarde 10h-19h ou 11h-20h (preferencial);

Atitude e Motivação – bom relacionamento interpessoal, responsabilidade, organização, agilidade e motivação.

Habilitações Literárias:

12º Ano de Escolaridade ou curso técno-profissional na área da electricidade e/ou energia

Experiência Profissional:

Experiência mínima de um ano na área da Manutenção de Edifícios (preferencial)

Tipo de contrato:

Estágio profissional ATIVAR com possibilidade de contrato diretamente com o Oporto British School

Horário de trabalho a tempo completo (40 horas semanais e 8 diárias)

Local e início de funções:

As funções serão desempenhadas nas instalações do Oporto British School, na Foz do Douro, com início em

This is a Secondary post. Experience of teaching to school leaving age is essential and teaching of the IB Diploma would be an advantage. Due to changes within the department, we are looking to recruit an outstanding teacher of Mathematics. 

Student achievement is above UK and international benchmarks, and the department has a strong profile across the school. You will be a highly effective and dynamic classroom teacher, with a genuine commitment to putting students first. The school will provide you excellent support and professional development that is appropriate to your needs.

This position has two roles. The first part of the role will be working within the Primary School, working with our youngest students to support their eating, playing and sleeping. You may also be asked to work within the Primary Section at the Primary Leadership Team’s discretion.

The successful candidate will be a great team player, with a genuine commitment to putting students first. They will be flexible and adaptable with excellent communication skills. Preferably they will have experience supporting students with a variety of needs and in a range of different environments including students new to English.

The second part to this role is the position of After School Care Supervisor. The school operates an After-school Care service for pupils who are not able to be met by their parents or guardians when their school lessons finish at the end of the school day.  The service operates daily from 3.30-6.30pm.
