The Position

This is a Secondary post. Experience of teaching to school leaving age is essential and teaching of the IB Diploma would be an advantage.

The Science Department at OBS

The Science team is made up of 9 teachers and 2 full-time technicians. The Science department offers 5 popular subjects at IB Diploma level: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Environmental Systems and Societies, and Sports, Exercise and Health Science. 

Student achievement is above UK and international benchmarks, and the department has a strong profile across the school. You will be a highly effective and dynamic classroom teacher, with a genuine commitment to putting students first. The school will provide you excellent support and professional development that is appropriate to your needs.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Holds a relevant degree and teaching qualification
  • Have experience teaching Physics to school leaving age
  • The ability to also teach Chemistry will be regarded positively, though is not essential.
  • Ideally have experience of the IB Diploma Programmeand its underpinning pedagogical principles
  • Demonstrate a student-centred approached, strong classroom management, and adaptability to different learning needs
  • Enjoy collaborating, sharing best practice, and playing a role in the continued develop of the department

The Position 

We are seeking a talented and motivated Head of Learning Support (SENDCo) to join our school from  late August 2026

This is a full-time, school-wide role to lead and coordinate provision for pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and English as an Additional Language (EAL).  

This is a senior, coordination role for a driven and organised professional with a passion for raising academic standards and supporting high-quality teaching across the school. 

The successful candidate will oversee the day-to-day operation of SEND and EAL provision, develop and implement key learning development policies, create IEPS and pupil passports, lead meetings and provide professional guidance to staff to ensure inclusive, effective practice. 

In addition to strategic leadership, the role includes direct involvement in designing and delivering targeted interventions, working closely with pupils and families. The post holder will liaise regularly with the school’s counsellor/educational psychologist and other professionals, ensuring a joined-up and holistic approach to pupil support. Collaboration across teaching, pastoral, and support teams is central to the success of this role. 

Working closely with the Headmaster and Heads of Section, you will ensure pupils are supported to achieve their full academic potential, develop independence, and participate fully in all aspects of school life. 

The role requires excellent organisational and communication skills, meticulous attention to detail, and a strong commitment to partnership, with clear and effective communication between home and school, across staff teams, and with the wider professional community.

We are seeking a talented and motivated Teacher of Business and Humanities to join our thriving Secondary section from September 2026. Experience in teaching to school leaving age is essential and IBDP Business Management teaching experience is preferred. An ability to teach IBDP Economics, or History or Geography at KS3 / KS4 will also be an advantage.  

The Humanities department 

The Humanities team is made up of six teachers. At Key Stage 3, all students study History and Geography. At Key Stage 4, IGCSEs in History, Geography and Business Studies are available. As part of the IB Diploma Programme, we offer Business Management, Economics, History, Geography and Psychology.

Teacher of Business

The Position 

This position has two roles. The first part of the role will be working within the Primary School, working with our youngest students to support their eating, playing and sleeping. You may also be asked to work within the Primary Section at the Primary Leadership Team’s discretion.

The successful candidate will be a great team player, with a genuine commitment to putting students first. They will be flexible and adaptable with excellent communication skills. Preferably they will have experience supporting students with a variety of needs and in a range of different environments including students new to English.

The second part to this role is the position of After School Care Supervisor. The school operates an After-school Care service for pupils who are not able to be met by their parents or guardians when their school lessons finish at the end of the school day.  The service operates daily from 3.30-6.30pm.
